  我很喜欢RE1第五单元的一篇文章，文章标题明显改用了狄更斯的《双城记》， 我觉得尚且可以翻译为《双食记》。

文章生动地记录了一个双城移民故事---巴西的圣保罗和日本滨松。

查过资料， 巴西在不是大城市的滨松设置总领馆，当地有很多巴西人（主要是巴西国籍的日裔）聚居，很多地方都能看到葡萄牙语。

From Honolulu to Houston, visiting Chinatown can feel like a vacation in itself.

Chinatowns are cities within cities: adventurous, bustling, full of distinctive signage, street vendors selling unusual items, specialty shops, a noted lack of big chains, a variety of dialects being spoken, and multitudes of unique and exciting food choices.

唐人街是城中之城: 充满着冒险、熙熙攘攘、到处都是与众不同的标牌、售卖各色不同寻常商品的街头小贩、专卖店、缺乏大型连锁店、说着各种方言、有着众多独特的食物选择。

From the country's oldest Chinatown in hilly San Francisco to the smaller but just-as-bustling Chinatown in Philadelphia, visitors have the opportunity for instant cultural immersion.

The Chinese have been established in the United States since the mid-19th century, when laborers were needed for gold mining and railroad work, but the immigrant population also grew during the 1990s and 2000s; in fact, more than one-third of the Chinese immigrants now living in the U.S. arrived in 2000 or later.

But for those communities able to maintain their identity and vitality, the sensory experience — from the bright colors and unique architecture, the intriguing music and enticing smells of cooking — makes any visit an adventure.

In a neighborhood where English is not the primary language, a visitor can feel as though they've left the U.S. altogether — and now they are the foreigner, a tourist in their own city. And that can be incredibly exciting.

In some open-air markets, like those in New York's Chinatown, the produce is stunning and artistically arranged. Some live markets, with everything from eels and frogs, can be jarring to those not expecting them; the roast duck and pork hanging in shop windows can take some getting used to.

With a little legwork, an out-of-towner can seek out the more authentic areas of a Chinatown versus the touristy ones. As always, the best spot, of course, is where the locals shop and eat.

San Francisco

San Francisco’s Chinatown is a true cultural wonder of America. Not only is it the most expansive Chinatown outside of China, but it is also the oldest one in the United States. 

旧金山的唐人街是美国真正的文化奇迹。它不仅是中国以外面积最大的唐人街，也是美国最古老的唐人街。

Fortune cookies were even invented here. There are countless events, restaurants, and cultural attractions to be found and there is no better place to celebrate the Lunar New Year! It’s even an official state holiday in California.

New York City

New York City’s Chinatown is second only to that of San Francisco. The incredible amount of street vendors selling everything from food, to herbs and spices is an expert’s lesson in how to haggle, which is part of the fun of venturing down to the neighborhood. 

纽约市的唐人街仅次于旧金山。街头小贩卖的东西从食物到香草和香料，数量之多令人难以置信。

You’ll find the most authentic cuisine at the city’s first dim sum house, Nom Wah Tea Parlor, which opened back in 1920.

Flushing, Queens, New York

Not many people know that there is more than one Chinatown in New York City. The Chinatown in Flushing, Queens is on the rise, and what separates it from the rest is that it is more of a meeting point between American and Chinese culture. 

没有多少人知道纽约市有不止一个唐人街。皇后区法拉盛的唐人街正在崛起，它与其他地方的不同之处在于，它更多地是美国和中国文化的交汇点。

While there is an incredibly large Asian population here, you should note thatfusion cuisine and a hybrid lifestyleabound.

Los Angeles

The Los Angeles Chinatown of today, however, is not the original Chinatown. The history of the construction, destruction, and reallocation of the Chinese in the city is both a humbling and inspiring story.

When they first moved into the area, Chinese people faced great prejudice and were not allowed to own property. This led to thousands of Chinese living in squalor while trying to support their budding businesses.

Houston

Much like the Chinatown in Queens, New York, Houston’s Chinatown is more of acultural hodgepodge. This Texas neighborhood is not just reserved for Chinese, but others of Eastern and even Middle Eastern descent. 

和纽约皇后区的唐人街很像，休斯顿的唐人街更像是一个文化大杂烩。这个德克萨斯州的社区不仅是中国人的专属，还有其他来自东方甚至中东的后裔。

全球50多个唐人街，甚至在南非约翰内斯堡都可以看到唐人街,融合与再造让中国文化成为另一种有趣的文化融合。
