一门新课Great Writing

绝大部分的孩子从来没有系统学习过写作，大家都是凭借自己或多或少的英语积累只写KET,PET的习题里的作文题目。

他们可以完成考试的任务吗？其实大部分孩子经过上备考班学习，KETPET的写作题是基本可以及格的，其他方面取决于语法和词汇。有些语法错误实在不忍直视，那么及格的可能性更低一些。其他语法基本功较好的学生把握会更好。 

可是这就证明了真的懂得写作了？ 

剑桥考试是一个非常科学的测试系统， 在写作这一板块，会出对应等级的写作能力。 

例如在PET 阶段的写作能力要求， 可以参看B1 对应的写作要求， 而不是盯着PET题目里的题， 应该观看整体性要求:

1. letters/ emails 邮件

2. articles : 文章--- describing people 描绘人物， describing places/ buildings 描绘建筑和地点， describing objects 描述物品， describing festivals/ events/ celebrations 描述节日和庆典活动

3. narratives 叙事文 ----first-person narratives 第一人称叙事文， third-person narratives 第三人称叙事文。

4. opinion essays 观点性议论文

有没有发现这里的要求几乎就是PET作文的各类题型，所以在本阶段，学生最好是真正达到B1水平和相应能力。

Great Writing大写作属于很广义上的写作课， 所以涵盖的内容非常多， 非常精细，这也是其他写作教程所没有的。其他很多教材上来就是目的性的写作，当然短期内比较合适，但是我们同时需要一个长期，细致的写作教程。 

今天拿GW第一课为例子展示一下如何教学。

这是GW2里提供的一段写作文段。 

书上并没有讲解什么， 所以如果是自己看， 很有可能就看一遍并没感受学到什么。 

那么我们可以从这个文段中学到什么？

对比句型的写作训练和举一反三

不难看出整个文段用了很多表示对比的句型，也是绝大部分学生缺乏的， 写作的时候只会一味不停的乱写。其实有时候可以运用对比， 写作的效果会更佳。

最简单的对比句型 but 和while 

狗狗可以被训练得很快，有些只需几分钟，就能服从基本的命令，比如“过来”和“坐下”。，但是大多数猫都很难训练。

Dogs can be trained quickly, some in a matter of minutes, to obey basic commands like ‘come' and ‘sit.' ， but most cats are difficult to be trained. 

此处but可以改为while, in contrast , on the other hand. (后两者在这里需要将逗号改为句号）

我们可以看看大部分的文章里都含有对比的写法。

 when 某些时候也可以表示对比， 查下词典就看到了when的这种用法。

in contrast toXXX句型的举一反三

定义：If one thing is in contrast to another, it is very different from it. 与…截然不同

举一反三：

相比电影的视觉享受，我更喜欢阅读文字。

In contrast to visual enjoyment of films, I am more fond of reading words.

与北京的国家历史名胜相比，广州有更多的地方文化。

In contrast to the national historic interests in Beijing , GZ has more local cultures.

与大城市快节奏的生活相比，我家乡的生活要轻松得多。

In contrast to the fast life pace in big cities, life in my hometown is much more relaxed.

while 的用法和举一反三

while:  used to contrast two things （对比两件事物）…而，…然而

汤姆很擅长科学，而他弟弟却只对艺术感兴趣。

While Tom's very good at science, his brother is only into art. 

Tom's very good at science while his brother is only into art. 

举一反三：

She is very outgoing while he is rather quiet.

However的用法

while 表示转折，其意为“可是”“仍然”等。可放在句首、句中或句末。格式上，通常用逗号与句子其他成分隔开。

My room is small; however, it’s comfortable. 

注意，however不能像 but（但是）那样直接连接两个句子。

注意看下面however 的正确用法：

误：We all tried our best, however we lost the game.

正：We all tried our best, but we lost the game.

正：We all tried our best; however, we lost the game.

正：We all tried our best. However, we lost the game.

Difference between US and UK has many layers as even the English spoken in both countries differ. The US is expanded as the United States whereas the UK is expanded as the United Kingdom. Both are western countries with a remarkable influence on the global affair. However, one could say that UK was the emperor of the world in the past while US is the unofficial emperor of the world at present. This is due to the power they exercise over the rest of the world.

英国的全称为大不列颠及北爱尔兰联合王国，被大西洋、北海、英吉利海峡和爱尔兰海环绕。然而，美利坚合众国，即美国，位于太平洋和大西洋之间，北部与加拿大接壤，南部与墨西哥接壤。

The United Kingdom is governed by a parliamentary system with a constitutional monarchy while US is a federal constitutional republic.

英国实行君主立宪制的议会制度，而美国是联邦立宪制共和国。

US has a President while UK has a Prime Minister with the monarch.

美国有总统，而英国有首相和君主。

US exports capital goods, automobiles, consumer goods, etc.while UK exports manufactured goods, fuels, chemicals, etc.

美国出口资本货物、汽车、消费品等，而英国出口制成品、燃料、化学品等。
