 Life After Retiring

Lorna is recently retired and, more so than ever, has spent time in her outdoor sitting room. Her morning routine includes two hours of looking after her own vegetables, fruits, and flowers. When re-potting a few roses, she realized that the wooden deck was beginning to sink into the ground. Her new routine involves reading, drinking tea, and occasionally having friends over for a game of bridge. Lorna easily spends about four hours outdoors; after careful consideration, she decided to remodel her sitting area. She browsed the web and later began to prepare a few documents. She asked Downey Savings bank to lend her $5,000. The bank told her that they would put her application on hold for a few days before notifying whether or not it is possible to receive the loan. Downey Savings called Lorna three days later to inform her that she was able to receive the loan, her excellent credit history made it possible for her to pass the requirements. Lorna was so pleased to begin this new project that she held a small gathering with neighbors to share the news. She declared, "I will improve the sitting area, and from then on, we will play bridge every Tuesday and Thursday." A few weeks passed. Lorna held another small gathering where her friends drank lemonade and ate sandwiches. The sitting area was covered with plastic, so everyone grew curious about how it looked. An hour later, Lorna unveiled the sitting area. Her friends praised the remodeling and played bridge.
